The toxic cocktail of the climate crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, and violent conflict is exacerbating an already grim hunger situation in the world. Violent conflicts are becoming increasingly severe and protracted, and are destructive to virtually every aspect of food systems. Inadequate food systems and the rise in hunger are among the most pressing challenges of our time and require decisive and sustained action.
On the occasion of World Food Day and against the backdrop of the UN Food Systems Summit, the launch of the 2021 Global Hunger Index will focus on how to break the cycle of hunger and conflict and contribute to a more peaceful and food-secure planet.
Welthungerhilfe, Concern Worldwide, and KfW cordially invite you to join high-ranking experts from policy, academia, and civil society in discussing the next steps needed on the international agenda to deliver real change for the millions of people suffering from hunger and conflict.
