ECF was co-founded in 1997 by Eleanor Butt Crook and her late husband, Ambassador William H. Crook.
ECF was co-founded in 1997 by Eleanor Butt Crook and her late husband, Ambassador William H. Crook. For decades, Eleanor has been a pioneer in advocacy and grantmaking to fight global malnutrition. Her family’s leadership through their grocery company, H-E-B, helped spearhead the national food banking movement in the U.S., and continues to donate millions each year to fight hunger across the nation.
ECF employs leading experts in global nutrition, working across research, policy analysis, and advocacy to realize Eleanor’s vision of a world without hunger and malnutrition.
ECF’s Board of Directors includes three generations of the Crook family, united in the fight against global malnutrition.
ECF benefits from the guidance of our Expert Advisory Board who provide support to ECF’s research strategy and technical grantmaking.
