| Ensuring that all people can consume diets rich in vitamins and minerals is foundational to building a healthy food system and to achieving global goals. Large-scale food fortification is one solution among many to deliver healthy diets. It is a powerful and established food systems intervention with a proven track record of significantly reducing debilitating vitamin and mineral deficiencies as a public health concern. Yet despite its benefits and proven impact, large-scale food fortification is a massively overlooked intervention in our efforts to end preventable diseases and death. |
| Through engaging speakers and panel discussions, the event will highlight our renewed vision and commitment to accelerate progress for large-scale food fortification globally in the lead up to the Nutrition for Growth Summit in early December. |
| At the event, UNICEF, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and USAID will announce their commitments to large-scale food fortification and release a joint vision to accelerate progress and catalyze momentum on large-scale food fortification as one tool to address widespread malnutrition in low- and middle-income countries. A range of partner governments will join to share both lessons learned from successful country and regional programs and new commitments. |
