ECF-funded IRC study demonstrates that community health workers (CHWs) are a practical part of the solution.

ECF provided funding for the IRC to investigate the impact of low-literate community health workers (CHWs) treating uncomplicated cases of severe acute malnutrition in South Sudan using an updated treatment protocol that’s provides clearer directions than prior treatment protocols. IRC then led a coalition of NGOs to pilot the wasting treatment approach in Malawi, Nigeria, and Kenya with success.
