Associate Director for North American Advocacy

Maura Weaver

Maura is Associate Director for North American Advocacy at the Eleanor Crook Foundation, where she helps advance the foundation’s policy and advocacy efforts to mobilize political leadership and resources to end global malnutrition. Drawing on her background in congressional policymaking, she works with policymakers, partners, and advocates to strengthen U.S. and Canadian leadership on global nutrition, food security, and international development.

Before joining the Eleanor Crook Foundation, Maura served as Legislative Director for Rep. Melanie Stansbury. In this role, she led the Congresswoman’s legislative team and advised on policy priorities, legislative strategy, appropriations and stakeholder engagement. She managed key policy portfolios including foreign affairs, national security, and defense, helping advance legislative priorities and shepherd key provisions through the legislative process into law. She worked across committees, caucuses, and bipartisan coalitions to advance legislation and secure policy wins through appropriations and other legislative vehicles. Prior to this role, Maura also served in the Offices of Rep. Andy Kim and Rep. Donald Norcross, and on various national and state campaigns.

Throughout her time on Capitol Hill, Maura was actively involved in the bipartisan Women's Congressional Staff Association, where she served for several years on the organization’s board and ultimately as President. In this leadership role, she helped guide the association’s programming and strategic direction, working to expand professional development opportunities, mentorship programs, and networking initiatives for women working across the House and Senate. She also helped foster a strong bipartisan community among congressional staff, supporting efforts to promote leadership development, career advancement, and collaboration among women serving on Capitol Hill.

Maura holds a Master of Public Policy from Temple University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Arcadia University.
